Background
Besides being a popular pizza and craft beer chain of shops, Devilcraft also have a brewery, which is located in Oimachi, in Tokyo, Japan. The story is that the original Kanda branch was going to be a brewpub, but the pizza and craft beer proved to be so popular that it didn’t make sense to take out some of the space to make a brewery.
Opened in October 2015, the brewery has since helped propel Devilcraft to a much wider audience, with their beers not just being available at their stores but also popping up at other craft beer bars across Japan. At the time of writing, there are no plans for bottling or canning of the beers – but who knows? Seeing as how popular and well-respected they have become things could soon change.
Beer Reviews
The following are some of the beers we’ve had:
- Devilcraft Black Igneous – A 6.5% oatmeal stout
- Devilcraft Citra Sunshine – A 5.5% California Pilsner brewed using Citra hops.
- Devilcraft Cloudy Outlook – A 7% NE-IPA though what hops were used is unknown at the time of writing.
- Devilcraft Coconut Craze – A 12% imperial stout aged with coconut but also contains vanilla.
- Devilcraft Darkshine – A 5% schwarzbier brewed using German Pilsner, Vienna, and Munich malts.
- Devilcraft Devil Juice – A 7% hazy IPA though what hops were used is unknown at the time of writing.
- Devilcraft Midnight Seduction – A 12% imperial stout brewed using vanilla, maple syrup, and cinnamon.
- Devilcraft Party Puff – A 4.5% rice lager brewed using rice puffs.
- Devilcraft Patriot Crush – A 5.5% NE-IPA though what hops were used is unknown at the time of writing.
- Devilcraft Pogo Punch – A 5.5% fruited hazy pale ale brewed using “juice” though specifically it’s supposed to be passion fruit, orange, and also guava.
- Devilcraft Smolder – An 8.5% smoked Baltic porter that uses imported German malt, along with smoked Beech malt to impart the smokiness.
- Devilcraft Tropicarnival IPA – a 6.7% American IPA though what hops are used is unknown.
