Yumegaoka Sunday Brewing (Yokohama / Kanagawa)

Yumegaoka Sunday Brewing : The Bottom Line

Yumegaoka Sunday Brewing isn’t the most accessible place to get to, but it’s a decent little place to get to when you’re in the area – either after watching a movie at the iMax upstairs, or just having done some shopping in the complex. I’ll definitely be coming here again. It’s got a good number of beers on tap, with a selection of styles to suit pretty much everyone’s needs. Finally, there is a need to be patient for your beers as though you order at the counter, the beers don’t get delivered to your table. An unusual, and minor, point to make.

Yumegaoka Sunday Brewing Inside

Yumegaoka Sunday Brewing : Background

Yumegaoka Sunday Brewing opened in August 2024, in what is known as the Yumegaoka Soratos building. It’s a large shopping complex next door to Yumegaoka Station, on the Sotetsu Line, which was developed to help improve the area. It’s the third brewery located on the Sotetsu Line, with Ebina Beer and TDM 1874, both also located on the train line.

Yumegaoka Sunday Brewing is an off shoot of 26K Brewery, one of the smallest breweries in Japan at under 10m2, or 3 tsubo, and is also owned by the Ond corporation.

Yumegaoka Sunday Brewing : Atmosphere & Interior

Yumegaoka Sunday Brewing is located on the 1F of the Yumegaoka Soratos building, and as such, is all non-smoking. The brewery itself can be seen from the outside, with large windows looking into it. However, with so many stainless steel containers up against, the window, it’s hard to actually see clearly inside.

The drinking area itself is split into two sections – a standing area at the front with some bright yellow steel drums used for tables, and a small seated area at the back of the bar. There is space for 22 people at the back, with tables for groups of four or pairs, and there is no table charge at all. Moreover, after 6pm, there are tables across the food court at Gout Gout that can also be used by drinkers at Yumegaoka Sunday Brewing.

Yumegaoka Sunday Brewing : Beer & Tap Information

There are 10 taps of craft beer on at Yumegaoka Sunday Brewing, with the tap list being split between in-house beers and guest beers. There is a wide variety of beers on tap as well, with plenty of non-IPA choices for those wanting something different. The beers come in two main sizes : regular (240 ml) from ¥690 and large (470 ml) from ¥990. There is also an option for a beer flight with three 120 ml glasses at ¥1,200 or four 120 ml glasses at ¥1,500, with the guest beers incurring an extra cost.

Finally, for those wanting something to takeaway, you can get a 350 ml plastic cup for ¥880 and there is also a fridge at the front of the bar with some bottles in – but alas on the day I went, the fridges had been cleared out.

It’s not something that is an issue in most bars, but the ordering is a little peculiar. On the day I went, the bar was reasonably busy, with it being half full. When ordering the beers, I waited at the bar to get the beer, but was told that I should sit down and wait. I assumed that this meant that the beers would be brought over to us. Except they weren’t. Instead, we got a small device that lets out a beep when you’re order is ready – the beers were going to be served at the same time as the food. A little strange there but I guess it means it keeps the orders flowing.

Yumegaoka Sunday Brewing : Food & Menu Information

Though there is a food court across the way, you can’t bring your own food into Yumegaoka Sunday Brewing, which is fine because there are some options for either meals – such as a burgers and pastas – or some smaller dishes. Of course, they had chips so that was the plan – except my daughter had different ideas and ate all the chips and left me with just the beers.

The menus are pretty much all in Japanese, with just random pieces of English on – why are the beer styles in English but the names not – so you may need some help if you can’t read Japanese. All of the prices include tax so there are no random surprises at the end of the day.
