Yorocco Beer Pub Sasameza (Kamakura / Kanagawa)

Yorocco Beer Pub Sasameza : The Bottom Line

It’s a cosy and friendly little place in the middle of nowhere. It’s perfect for a quick pint or two with friends, family, children, or a combination of all. The only downside is that it is in the middle of nowhere, so you have to plan your trip accordingly, perhaps riding the quaint Enoden train to get down to Yorocco Beer Pub Sasameza. Otherwise, the beers are generally great, it’s non-smoking, and has a small drinking area outside. Finally, they do have some food, but go for the nuts.

Yorocco Beer Pub Sasameza Inside

Yorocco Beer Pub Sasameza : Background

Yorocco Beer have been around for a while now, and since opening, they never had an official taproom. Of course, Beach Muffin in Zushi was an “official” taproom; however, outside of the area, it was not easy to find their beers. With the expansion of the brewery, it has meant they can make more beer. Making more beer means more for sale. More for sale means a taproom is possible. And In July 2023, Yorocco Beer Pub Sasameza opened.

Yorocco Beer Pub Sasameza is located in Sasamemachi, a small suburb of Kamakura, located about a 15 minute from Kamakura station. For those wanting a bit less of a walk, the taproom is between Yuigahama and Wadazuka stations on the Enoden line.

Yorocco Beer Pub Sasameza : Atmosphere & Interior

The bar is located in what can be described as a small compound of shops. There’s a few eateries in the area that share the location, with a small square in the middle that is a shared space. The inside of the bar has space for around 10 people, with 6 seats and then space for another 4 people at standing the table in the middle. There was some music in the background, which sounded like the same music at Btaps. More importantly, there is no table charge and also some free wifi.

For those with buggies or pets, you can drink outside using the benches conveniently located at the entrance. Yorocco Beer Pub Sasameza prides itself on being “your local pub”. With small things like this, they go a long way into helping build a community for the bar.

Yorocco Beer Pub Sasameza : Beer & Tap Information

As this is the taproom for Yorocco Beer, it would only make sense that their beers are on tap. There are eight taps of beer on, with beers coming in two sizes. Medium (300 ml) at ¥900 and large (500 ml) at ¥1,300. On the day that I went, a Thursday, there was a small happy hour occuring, with ¥100 off for mediums and ¥200 off for large beers. However, there is no option for a beer flight. All of the prices include tax.

The beers on tap split into two categories : lager and ale style. The lagers are poured using Czech taps, the side handle ones, that induce a creaminess into the beer. The ales are poured using regular vertical taps and those tasted “normal”. I restricted myself to two beers but they were both enjoyable.

Under the counter, there is a small fridge for takeaway beers, and you can also get the beers to takeaway in a plastic cup, if needed. A great option for those going down to the beach to drink. Or perfect for the long train journey back into Yokohama or Tokyo.

Yorocco Beer Pub Sasameza : Food & Menu Information

There isn’t a wide range of food available at the bar, with some smaller options available during the week. I went for the mixed nuts and they were a decent accompaniment to the beers though a little pricey. At the weekend, they do offer a schnitzel sandwich that I sounded delicious from the menu. The menus are in English too, though in terms of vegetarian options, there’s a few basics on here.
