Kawasaki Craft Beer Stand : The Bottom Line
Kawasaki Craft Beer Stand is the perfect little place for having one beer then diving off somewhere else, either before or after shopping in the area. With a large number of taps, there’s something for everyone here, and that includes some takeaway beers as well. The only downside is that in terms of food, it’s pretty threadbare here, so you may need to find somewhere else to eat – but that’s not going to be a challenge in the area. The whole place is non-smoking and there is no table charge, because there are no tables. Finally, there is some free wifi to connect to.

Kawasaki Craft Beer Stand : Background
Kawasaki Craft Beer Stand, or to give it its full name Kawasaki Craft Beer Stand by Tokaido Beer, opened in October 2024, and as the full name suggests, is run by the local brewery Tokaido Beer. It’s located in the Azelea underground area, on the east side of the JR station, with it being less than five minutes from the station.
Kawasaki Craft Beer Stand : Atmosphere & Interior
On the day I went to the bar, I could hear some hustle and bustle from around the corner – clearly some people had started drinking earlier on than me. With it being a standing bar, it’s ideal for people wanting to pop in for a beer or two before heading off somewhere else. Or perhaps those people had been shopping – who knows as I wasn’t paying attention to what was under the counter.
With this place being a standing bar, there is no table charge, and it’s hard to judge how many people can “fit” in the place. The counter has space for around 10 people, and there are a couple of standing tables at the edges of the bar though they were left unused. It’s a place meant for chatting and within a few minutes being at Kawasaki Craft Beer Stand, I had already got involved with other drinkers there – albeit in Japanese.

Kawasaki Craft Beer Stand : Beer & Tap Information
While the standing bar is owned and run by Tokaido Beer, there are plenty of taps on with 18 when I visited. This was split between beers from Tokaido Beer, and also plenty of guest beers, with a small Hokkaido Beer tap takeover going on. The beers come in two sizes : half (250 ml) from ¥700 and regular (500 ml) from ¥1,100 with local beers being cheaper. The beers are served in plastic cups, I guess to cut down on washing up as there is barely any space for a small kitchen, let alone space for a dishwasher.
There is also a beer flight option with any three 150 ml beers for ¥1,500 – not a bad choice when when some of the guest beers are the same price for a regular beer. Finally, there is a small fridge at the entrance for takeaway beers only, with local and guest beers available.
Kawasaki Craft Beer Stand : Food & Menu Information
There are a few snacks on at Kawasaki Craft Beer Stand, with a few sausages on the side but that is it. With plenty of options for food around the area, you can always get something to eat. The menus are mostly in Japanese, with just an occasional smattering of English on them – just enough to order but not enough to describe the beers. Finally, all prices include tax so there’s not surprises.
