Tachihi Brewery : The Bottom Line
Tachihi Brewery seems to have flown under the radar for a lot of craft beer drinkers in Japan – but that shouldn’t be the case. It’s a nice little place, though it is out of the way for most people to get to it seems, so it’s best to plan your visit here with other places, such as Sakamichi North. All of the beers I had on the day were solid and were reasonably priced too. One thing to note is that it is a cashless bar so make sure you have a credit card or some electronic money with you. There is also some free Wi-Fi provided by Tachihi Brewery.

Tachihi Brewery : Background
Tachihi Brewery is located in the Tachihi area of Tachikawa – an area know for craftsmanship and industry. The parent company itself has its foundations in the aeronautical industry and in 2024, celebrated their 100th anniversary. The brewery itself opened up in December 2021, and since then, they’ve gone on to win awards for their beers at various competitions across Japan and also Asia.
Tachihi Brewery is located in between Takamatsu and Tachihi stations on the Tama Monorail Line in what appears to be a rather suburban area. With LaLaPort around the corner, it’s less than five minutes to get here, so once you’ve seen a movie or done some shopping, you can stroll on down.
Tachihi Brewery : Atmosphere & Interior
As you approach Tachihi Brewery, the sheer size of the building stands out in an area that is more in-tune with a suburban lifestyle. Houses all around with barely any industry left on this side of the monorail tracks. That gives this place more of a community feel and on the day we went, the downstairs standing area was filled up before midday with differing groups of people – some foreigners, a family, and a couple of hikes in there.
The first floor is standing room only, and has three standing tables for four people each. On the second floor is a long table that has seating for around eight people and can be used by groups only. The whole place is non-smoking, and that includes the area outside the front where there are some standing tables when the weather is nice. Moreover, there is some free Wi-Fi for people to use, with the details posted around the bar.

Tachihi Brewery : Beer & Tap Information
There are eight taps of craft beer on at Tachihi Brewery, with all of them being their own making. The taps are split between regular beers and seasonals, so the tap list will vary throughout the year. The beers come in two sizes : medium (230 ml) at ¥770 and large size (480 ml) at ¥1,100. There is also a beer flight that gets you any four 180 ml beers on the menu for ¥1,650. I chose the beer flight and found their beers to be pretty solid offerings. Some of the styles were a little predictable, but it was also interesting to see them trying some other styles such as fruited lagers, sours, and IPLs.
Moreover, there is a small beer fridge at the front, under the stairs, where you can get some bottles to takeaway. They aren’t available to be drunk in-store. Finally, if you do fancy just picking up a fresh beer to walk with, you can do as they have takeaway beers in plastic pint glasses for the same price.
Tachihi Brewery : Food & Menu Information
Besides a few snacks on sale, there is no food on offer at Tachihi Brewery. With barely anything in the local area to eat – you’ll have to go to LaLaPort to pick up some food. I strongly suggest you eat before coming here, or have something planned for after. The menus were in Japanese, though with enough English for you to order your beers, and some of the snacks if needed. All of the prices include tax.
