Echigo Citra Strata Hallertau Tradition : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
Echigo Citra Strata Hallertau Tradition poured out a dull, hazy orange brown colour with a thick white head consisting of large, white bubbles that popped away, leaving some streaks down the side of the glass.
The aroma was a bit muddled – I couldn’t quite work out which the major hop was supposed to be; however, the main aroma coming through was a citrus one, along the lines of grapefruit and lemon. As the beer warmed up, a touch of floral aroma was present, which I am guessing was from the Hallertau Tradition, which was alongside a slight pale malt sweetness.
The body began with a soft, slightly bitter note, that faded quickly off the palate, to leave some more of the citrus flavour hanging around. I didn’t find anything wrong with the beer – not that I was deliberately looking – but neither did I find anything that blew me away.
Echigo Citra Strata Hallertau Tradition : The Bottom Line
Solid session IPA, if not exciting. Nice addition to the range but the usage of Hallertau Tradition was wasted on me.
