Otama Magic Time IPA : Background
Otama Magic Time IPA is a 6% West Coast IPA from Otama Brewing, based in Joetsu, Niigata. It’s part of their regular lineup and is available in both bottles and on draught. The beer contains Citra, Mosaic, and Warrior hops. Otama Magic Time IPA was the first to come out of Otama Brewing’s brewery, and the label features a sunset over the Sea of Japan. The legend of the mermaid of Naoetsu. A mermaid and a fishing boy toasting with bitter IPA at dusk.

Otama Magic Time IPA : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
Otama Magic Time IPA poured out a slightly hazy dark amber colour with a thin layer of white head on top, that popped away, leaving just a few bubbles on top.
The aroma off of Otama Magic Time IPA was an old school West Coast IPA – lots of dankness, with a medium amount of caramel sweetness, and just a touch of citrus notes lying underneath it all. As the beer warmed up though, there were some light tropical notes coming through, mostly of mango and pineapple.
As in the aroma, the body to Otama Magic Time IPA began with an old school West Coast IPA twang of dankness and medium hop bitterness. Both lingered on the palate throughout drinking, with some grapefruit and lemon being thrown in to change it up a bit. While the beer warmed up, some more of the same tropical notes came through into the body, with a smidgen of mango and pineapple being noticeable.

A decent West Coast IPA that definitely provides some magic time.
