Streetlight Brewing Taproom : The Bottom Line
Streetlight Brewing Taproom isn’t in the centre of Sapporo, but it’s well worth taking the train out to Soen and grabbing a few beers from the source. What was supposed to be a quick pint in here ended up being four and then trying to navigate back to the hotel in a sudden snow storm. With takeaway beers available though, you could always be sensible and just pop in for a couple of cans instead. While the food selection is spartan to say the least, it’s great you can bring your own food in. The whole place is non-smoking, has no table charge, and there is also some free wifi, with the details dotted around the bar.

Streetlight Brewing Taproom : Background
Streetlight Brewing Taproom is the taproom for Streetlight Brewing, located in Sapporo, Hokkaido. The brewery opened in February 2023 in the Soen district of the city, which is on the Hakodate line. The taproom is located around a ten minute walk from the station, perhaps a bit more when it’s snowing outside.
Streetlight Brewing Taproom : Atmosphere & Interior
As you approach the bar, you might be mistaken for walking past it as there’s only a single light hanging above the entrance to the bar. Moreover, with it being set back behind some cars, the entrance is surprisingly dark, considering the name of the brewery.
Entering into the bar, you’re greeted by a large open space with plenty of seating – in fact, there’s easily over 30 seats in the bar, at various combination of wire spool tables, and some regular tables. Moreover, there’s a large table in the middle of the bar for standing customers. It’s quite an airy place inside, considering how offset the bar is from the main street, and you also have some glistening brewery equipment to look at. The whole place is non-smoking and has no table charge. Finally, there’s some free wifi.
For those that like classic 80s and 90s music, you’re feel right at home here, and throw in some 70s disco, and you might end up with an impromptu sing-a-long after a couple of pints.

Streetlight Brewing Taproom : Beer & Tap Information
There are 12 taps of craft beer on at Streetlight Brewing Taproom, with all of the beers from the brewery. The beers come in three sizes : half (266 ml) from ¥600, regular (355 ml) from ¥800, and large (473 ml) from ¥1,000. Though there are a large number of beers, Streetlight Brewing Taproom doesn’t offer up any beer flights, nor is there a happy hour. However, there are plenty of cans on offer to be taken away. These cans aren’t available to be drunk in-store though so don’t think about doing that to save some money.
Streetlight Brewing Taproom : Food & Menu Information
Streetlight Brewing Taproom has a few random snacks on sale, such as peanuts, cashews, and other kinds of nuts, though nothing really of substance. However, they do let you bring your own food into the taproom, so off you run to Sukiya, pick up a couple of gyudons, and then you can eat in store. They also will take your rubbish for you, as long as you hand it to them at the end.
As for the menus, there’s English menus available and some of the bar staff did speak pretty good English to us when we were drinking. And even understood our (probably drunken) ordering later on during the day. Finally, all the prices on the menus include tax.
