Otama Yukiyama Weekender : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
Otama Yukiyama Weekender poured out a hazy golden honey colour with a thin finger of white head on top that left slight streaks down the edge of the glass.
The aroma was a mixture of pleasent aromas from the hops, interspersed with an off aroma of plasticky phenols. The hops were vibrant and citrusy, with grapefruit and lemon on the nose, with a touch of malt sweetness. But that phenol aroma was not really wanted. As the beer warmed up, some tropical notes came through, with a touch of mango and pineapple. Yet that plasticky aroma.
In the body, it was a case of more of the same. The hops did bring a smooth, well-rounded bitterness to it all, with a citrus and tropical profile being present. Yet unfortunately, it was the same plasticky flavour that came through once again to detract from a decent beer. It wasn’t enough to stop me from drinking this beer, but it was enough to linger on the palate during drinking.
Otama Yukiyama Weekender : The Bottom Line
In two minds about this beer – tighten up the recipe, and it would be a great beer.
