Odawara Garage Brewing : The Bottom Line
While the beers at Odawara Garage Brewing are a work in progress, it’s still worthwhile getting here for a couple of beers, as there’s not much else in the area besides Hakone Beer and that’s a bit of a trek. I did enjoy my time at this place, and it had a great local community feel to it – compounded by the fact that all the customers were talking to one another, and people were popping in with kids and food to eat. The bar is non-smoking, has no table charge, and some free wifi. Just be wary that at the time of writing, the only food on offer is some snacks, so feel free to bring your own, but take the rubbish home with you.

Odawara Garage Brewing : Background
Odawara Garage Brewing opened in March 2023 and, surprisingly, is the first brewpub to open in the area. Hakone Beer doesn’t techincally count though as that place is the taproom. Located around a 10 minute walk from Odawara station, which is on the JR Tokaido, Odakyu, Shinkansen, and also Daiyuzan line, Odawara Garage Brewing is situated in a local residential area, so expect to meet and drink with some locals in the area.
The first floor of the building is the brewery, while the second floor is the taproom and bar space for drinkers.
Odawara Garage Brewing : Atmosphere & Interior
As you walk up the stairs, the amount of wood used for the bar is amazing. However, be careful of the low ceiling above the stairs, else you may fall down, or in my case up, the stairs if you’re not looking where you’re going and you bash your head. Floor to ceiling, there’s so much wood that you wonder how many trees have been used.
The taproom is split into two areas – the back area with the bar is mostly a standing space for people, with a couple of tables to lean against, and the front space of the bar is the seating area. The front space has seating for around 10 people, which is spread across a counter at the window, and then a larger table in the middle of the bar. There is no table charge at Odawara Garage Brewing, and the whole space is non-smoking, along with some free wifi to boot.

Odawara Garage Brewing : Beer & Tap Information
On the day we went to the bar, there were eight taps of craft beer on, with all of the beers coming from Odawara Garage Brewing. The beers come in two sizes : half (240 ml) from ¥800 and pint (473 ml) from ¥1,200. There wasn’t any option for a beer flight or a happy hour option; however, you can get beers to takeaway.
Odawara Garage Brewing : Food & Menu Information
There were just some basics snacks on the menu boards at Odawara Garage Brewing, though customers did bring in some of their own food to eat, on the proviso that you take the rubbish back with you. The menus had enough information on them to order and all the prices include tax.
