Source 6 : The Bottom Line

If you’re in the immediate vicinity of Sapporo Station and you’re desperate for a beer to drink, then you could get one at Source 6 but it’s going to set you back a lot for what you get but at least it’s a place you can go with your family. There is a good range of beers on tap though the prices do leave a lot to be desired. The whole place is non-smoking, has no table charge, and also some free wifi.

Source 6 : The Full Story

I had just come back from a trip to Ebetsu to pick up some beers from North Island Beer and wanted something to eat and drink. I was too early to get back to Hininitsuka but I noticed that there was a craft beer place in the station vicinity so off I went.

Source 6 is located on the sixth floor of the Sapporo Stellar Place building, so it’s pretty convenient and easy to get to. Source 6 opened in December 2019 and is part of a larger chain of restaurants, imaginatively titled Source and then followed by a number.

Source 6 : Atmosphere & Interior

Source 6 is a deceptive looking place – I walked by the entrance and saw only 6 seats but in fact, there is far more behind the entrance as the bar counter stretches further down and around the corner and against the windows, but alas, it was full up when I was there. There is space for 36 people inside, with 14 people seated at the counter seats and then another 22 at the tables at the back. The whole place is non-smoking and has no table charge, along with some free Wifi provided by the Sapporo Stellar Place building.

Source 6 is most definitely a place for families – two of the tables were occupied by some young families, and there was a noticeable amount of couples in the restaurant – talking about sticking out like a sore thumb!

Source 6 : Approach to Covid-19

Like other bars in the Sapporo area, Source 6 was pretty strict. All of the staff were wearing masks, temperature checks were done at the front of the store upon entry, social distancing was in place with giant plastic shields between groups of two people, and also alcohol spray. Of course, the poster was dotted around the bar for those wondering.

Source 6 : Beer & Tap Information

Source 6 has 8 taps of beer on, with a strong leaning towards domestic beers on the menu. Of the 8 taps, when I went 6 were for craft beer, and the other two for macros, though with Sapporo Classic on the menu, it’s hard not to just sit and drink that all day long. The beers come in two sizes: medium (310 ml) from 650 yen, and large (400 ml) from 850 yen. The prices do include tax but there is a fair amount of head on the beer so make sure you get it topped up. There wasn’t any happy hour nor any beer flight options on the menu.

Source 6 : Food Information

At Source 6, they try to use locally sourced fruit, meat, and vegetables where possible, and there is plenty of options on the menu for everyone but you’re going to pay for it. While the food is delicious and well portioned, I couldn’t help but think that I could have gotten something for less, but equally as filling. The menus didn’t have any English on them, nor do the staff speak English so you’re going to have to whip out your phone and use Google Translate, or come with a Japanese speaker. The menus do have some pictures on them though so that can help out. The prices also include tax.
