800 Degrees Craft Brew Stand The Bottom Line
If you’re looking for a place with some great views of the Yokohama skyline and some local craft beers on tap, then 800 Degrees Craft Brew Stand is right up you street. However, those are pretty much the only reasons to recommend this place over others in Yokohama. The beers are expensive for what you get, the food is small for what you pay, and the prices do not include tax, but at least there is no table charge I guess. The whole place is non-smoking and there is also a smattering of English on the menu. There is also some free WiFi for you to while away the time while you wait for your food and drink.
800 Degrees Craft Brew Stand The Full Review
It’s not often that Yokohama gets a new craft beer bar – it’s such a densely packed area that rent is high and the demand is low, but 800 Degrees Craft Brew Stand opened up with the premise of local craft beer on tap seemed to be an enticing idea. And with Yokohama Station finally being finished, it seemed like a given that it would get a craft beer bar somewhere in the building. But we didn’t just get one craft beer bar – we got TWO!
800 Degrees Craft Brew Stand is located on the sixth floor of the NEWoMan Yokohama building and has some impressive views of the Yokohama skyline, with an outside deck area that is not just open to those drinking in the bar, but also those wanting to get some beers to takeaway and drink outside. 800 Degrees Craft Brew Stand is actually a small part of the 800 Degrees chain, with an artisan pizza bar just outside. 800 Degrees Craft Brew Stand is non-smoking and has space for about 40 people inside – about 10 people seated at the counter, and 30 people inside at various tables and counter seats. It doesn’t matter where you sit though as 800 Degrees Craft Brew Stand has no table charges.
There are 7 taps of craft beer on at 800 Degrees Craft Brew Stand, with 6 dedicated to all-year round beers from the Kanagawa area, and a seasonal tap that changes throughout the year. There is also a selection of bottles beers from Kanagawa too, though the prices are slightly elevated to compensate for drinking in a bar. The beers come in two sizes: regular (200ml) from ¥680, and large (400ml) from ¥1,000. 800 Degrees Craft Brew Stand also has a 5 beer tasting set, for ¥1,200, which gets you 5 x 125ml glasses, but you are unable to choose which ones you can get. 800 Degrees Craft Brew Stand also has beers for takeaway – both in plastic cups and bottles – at the same price. However, none of the prices include the 10% tax, so make sure you add that on. There was no happy hour though.
The food at 800 Degrees Craft Brew Stand focusses around hot dogs and fried food; however, having eaten three hot dogs earlier in the day at IKEA, I wasn’t in the mood for anymore. So I went for the standard chips option and was left disappointed at both the size and quality of them for the price that I had paid. I was wishing I could have had a pizza; however, at ¥3,200 for a pizza (that doesn’t include tax) putting me off from going there – sorry no two-for-one reviews here today. Vegetarians will be pleased to hear that there are some vegetarian options and there is also a smattering of English on the menu – enough to help you order the food.
