Used Like New Beer The Bottom Line
I’m going to stick my neck out here and say Used Like New Beer should be on your list of places to visit if you go to Nagoya – think of it as the Beach Muffin of the West. It’s quaint and cost atmosphere is enticing and I could have easily stuck around here for a lot longer. All of the staff at Used Like New Beer are friendly and knowledgeable about the beers, and also coffee, on tap. While it may seem weird buying bottles of beer to drink in, the whole place is non-smoking and has no table charge either. Beer can be bought to takeaway, which gets you a slight discount. While the amount of English at Used Like New Beer is at a bare minimum, it’s not too hard to order – pick up a bottle, take it to the counter, and pay for it. The food is also made instore and there are a few selections for vegetarians too.
Used Like New Beer The Full Review
Used Like New Beer came recommended from a follower on Twitter, though when we tried to find out information about the place, we were instead taken to an online shop. However, we were assured that there was an actual bottle shop you could drink in. Used Like New Beer opened in March 2018, and we had just arrived after its one year anniversary, with some remnants of decoration around the place.
Used Like New Beer is located in the northern part of Nagoya, about 10 minutes from Kameijima and Nagoya stations. The outside looks like a ramshackle building but if you step inside, Used Like New Beer has a very cosy and inviting atmosphere. The first floor is the main bottle shop area, where the majority of the customers were on the day we went, though there is a small seated area upstairs. There is space upstairs for about 10 people seated at various tables, while the first floor has a couple of benches for people to sit on, if necessary. Used Like New Beer is completely non-smoking and also has no table charge either. The atmosphere was brilliant in here – very chilled out with people offering around Japanese sweets for people to share. People would come in, bring some sweets, put them at the back of the bar for people to share, and then leave after one beer. A very intriguing situation to see.
While Used Like New Beer is mostly a bottle shop, there are also three taps of beer on too, with all of the choices being domestic beers. The draft beers come in one size of 350ml for ¥1,000, though that price does include tax. There is no happy hour and no beer flights either. However, Used Like New Beer does have a wide range of bottled beers that can be bought to drink instore, or bought to takeaway, which gets you a ¥100 discount. It’s also possible to buy the beers online for delivery across Japan.
The food at Used Like New Beer is very simple with a few sandwiches and cakes on sale, and also a choice between meat or vegetarian sandwiches. Not much choice so make sure you do eat something before coming here.
