Craft Beer Scissors and Kitchen Asakusa : The Bottom Line
Craft Beer Scissors and Kitchen Asakusa might be a bit pricey for some of our readers, but with the 15 beers on tap, there’s plenty to choose from, with some cheaper beers as well on offer. Moreover, there’s a decent selection of beers, so you’re not just limited to hazy IPAs – thankfully. The whole place is non-smoking and offers up some free wifi. Finally, it is also a friendly and warm place to sit and have a beer or two, with the crowd being a mix of foreign and Japanese drinkers willing to share a table and story together.

Craft Beer Scissors and Kitchen Asakusa : Background
Craft Beer Scissors and Kitchen Asakusa is the third in the Craft Beer Scissors chain, after the Craft Beer Scissors Akihabara branch and the original Ikejiri Ohashi place, which moved to this location in early 2025. There wasn’t an announcement as to why the branch moved, but it was clear that the number of people in Asakusa compared to Ikejiri Ohashi had a helping hand. More about that later.
Craft Beer Scissors and Kitchen Asakusa is located in the Asakusa area of Tokyo, and it’s on the west side of the area, slightly away from the hustle and bustle of Senso-ji, though still within walking distance. There are quite a few other bars in the area, so you could include this in a bar crawl – guide coming up perhaps?
Craft Beer Scissors and Kitchen Asakusa : Atmosphere & Interior
Craft Beer Scissors and Kitchen Asakusa is located just down a couple of steps, so be careful as you come out after a few beers. Moreover, as it’s set in from the main road, it isn’t the easiest place to spot so helpfully there is a large sign outside with “craft beer” to get you in. As you step inside, the bar stretches back somewhat, and there are plenty of seats inside, though no outside drinking area.
Inside, there is space for around 16 people, with five seats at the counter, six seats along the side walls, and then a small tatami-like bench at the back of the bar, just behind the small fridge of craft beer. The whole place is non-smoking, and offers up some free wifi, but alas, the dreaded table charge rears its head at ¥330 per person. You do get a little bit of food to eat as a snack, though if you follow the site on Instagram, you can get this charge removed if you show the bar staff.

Craft Beer Scissors and Kitchen Asakusa : Beer & Tap Information
On the day we went to Craft Beer Scissors and Kitchen Asakusa, there were supposed to be 15 taps of craft beer – split between domestic and imports – but four of the taps had run out, or not been connected yet. There was still plenty of beers to choose from nevertheless. The beers come in two sizes : half pint (280 ml) from ¥1,100 and US pint (473 ml) from ¥1,300 with the pours being nigh on perfect – for my liking that is.
There is also an option for a beer flight, though the choices are a bit strange. You can get two 100 ml servings for ¥1,400 or four 100 ml servings for ¥2,200. Peculiar pricing there but if people are drinking, then they’re drinking. At the back of the bar, is a small fridge, though it does pale in comparison to the Akihabara branch, but like that one, if you buy beers to takeaway, you do get a discount on the price.

Craft Beer Scissors and Kitchen Asakusa : Food & Menu Information
The menus at Craft Beer Scissors and Kitchen are all in Japanese, so you may need someone to help you with the ordering, though on the day, the bar staff did offer to help out. There are plenty of choices – either appetisers or large meals such as burgers – to choose from, though there are few vegetarian options outside some of the smaller appetisers. All of the prices include tax.
