Hare Bare Hiroshima : The Bottom Line
Hare Bare Hiroshima is a welcome addition to the growing number of craft beer bars in Hiroshima and I’ll definitely pop back in for a pint or three next time I’m here. Though after cycling 100 km+, all I could manage was two as I needed to get elsewhere. This place ticks everything you want in a bar – good beer, good food, and a good atmosphere.
The only downside to it is that the several floors that are going on means service can be a bit on the slow side – it took 10 minutes to get my beer that I had ordered. Outside of that, Hiroshima Neighborly Brewing has all of your creature comforts – no table charge, free wifi, and they’re English friendly.

Hare Bare Hiroshima : Background
Hare Bare Hiroshima is a bar that opened in 2020 in Naka-ku, Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture. The brewery is located on Hondori, the commercial and cultural centre of Hiroshima, right next to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, a symbol of the city.
Their concept of “Beer is a drink that makes you smile,” and uses ingredients from Hiroshima Prefecture as much as possible to brew beer that you will want to drink again and again. They set up the brewery in the center of Hiroshima city, so that people can feel closer to craft beer and enjoy it.
Hare Bare Hiroshima : Atmosphere & Interior
When you walk into Hare Bare Hiroshima, you’re greeted by a bar area. I thought I would be seated in this part, except I was shuffled upstairs into a different area. It could have been the sweat on me, perhaps the smell after the cycling, but I was placed in an open bar area away from everyone else. A shame really as the semi-second floor – with the most ridiculous escalator that leads up to it – was sterile and boring, compared to the first floor.
In spite of that, I was able to look into the kitchen and I had a good view into the brewery. It’s kind of confusing though as technically, these are two separate areas – one is Hiroshima Neighborly Brewing while the other is called Craft Beer HareBare. The whole place has space for 70 people inside across the various floors, with all of them being non-smoking and no table charge at all. There’s some free wifi if you need it with the details posted around the bar.

Hare Bare Hiroshima : Beer & Tap Information
There are ten taps of craft beer on at Hare Bare Hiroshima, with all of them being in-house beers. The beers come in two sizes : regular (280 ml) from ¥748 and large (480 ml) from ¥1,183 with prices including tax. There wasn’t an option for a beer flight though there is an all-you-can-drink-plan if you order some food. At the front of the store, you can get some of their regular beers to takeway, though the specials and limited editions are only available in store.

Hare Bare Hiroshima : Food & Menu Information
If you follow this site, you know I don’t eat much at the best of times, but I was famished and cold so I went for the chicken and chips. Hare Bare Hiroshima try to use locally sourced meat and vegetables and while it was nice, I could have done with some fish instead. A minor quibble really. The menus are in English and in Japanese with ordering done with a QR code on your table.
