Camado Wild Magic Vol. 1 : Background
Camado Wild Magic Vol. 1 is an 8% Belgian tripel from Camedo Brewery, based in Mizunami, Gifu. It’s part of their bottled and draught lineup, though its availability is unknown at the time of writing, with it having been released for their fourth anniversary, it could be a one and done beer. It is made with wild yeast extracted from weeping cherry trees, the symbol tree of Kamo Agricultural and Forestry High School, in conjunction with the Gifu Prefectural Food Science Research Institute.

Camado Wild Magic Vol. 1 : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
Camado Wild Magic Vol. 1 poured out a light orange colour with a thin amount of white head on top that faded very fast. By the time I had put the camera down, that layer of white head had dissipated to nothing but a couple of bubbles on top.
With this beer having the base of a Belgian tripel, it was always going to be malt forward, and the candied aroma eminating from Camado Wild Magic Vol. 1 supported that. Outside of that candied aroma, there was a potent alcohol heat to the beer, and while it was warming, it was boozy for sure. It thus seemed strange to use yeast harvest from cherry trees to ferment this out as I didn’t get any specific hints of traditional phenols. Belgian tripels tends to have a peachy phenolic aroma, and also flavour, but this was lighter.
This continued on into drinking making Camado Wild Magic Vol. 1 seem lighter in body than what it was supposed to be. The boozy part though was prevalent from start to finish. There was a touch of spiciness in the body, which also grew during drinking, leaving a nice aftertaste to the beer.
Camado Wild Magic Vol. 1 : The Bottom Line
A solid beer, though pricey for what it is.
