Trans Brewing Beer Stand (Sapporo / Hokkaido)

Trans Brewing Beer Stand : The Bottom Line

Next to Moya Moya Base, you’ve got a great second little bar to head on over too – as long as you keep an eye out for black ice on the stair case outside. There’s a decent selection of beers on tap with variety for everyone, and you’re bound to strike up conversation with others in the bar. Perhaps that’s also the only downside to this place as you’re not going to be able to come here for a quiet beer or two. The whole place is non-smoking and seeing as it’s all standing, no table charge either. Just make sure to eat before hand though as there’s only snacks on the menu.

Trans Brewing Beer Stand Inside

Trans Brewing Beer Stand : Background

Trans Brewing already had a taproom in Sapporo city; however, that branch closed down during 2024 and moved location. This branch opened in November 2024, in the Nijo area of Sapporo – so perfect for a couple of beers after a belly full of seafood or sushi during the day. It’s located between Odori station and Susukino station, with the bar being a five minute walk from either station.

Trans Brewing Beer Stand : Atmosphere & Interior

As you walk up the spiral staircase into the bar, be warned about the possibility of ice during the winter months. I almost lost my footing after going to the bar – though I am not going to blame the beer. The staff were very apologetic about it all and did say they had asked the landlord of the building to fix the leak from the roof.

A minor quibble aside, the atmosphere inside of Trans Brewing Beer Stand is very relaxed and groups of people were mingling with one another – even with the J-pop and K-pop coming across the stereo system. The bar is all standing, with space for anywhere between eight to twelve people, depending on how close people don’t mind getting. The whole place is non-smoking and with it being a standing bar, there’s no table charge. Morever, there is some free wifi in the area.

Trans Brewing Beer Stand : Beer & Tap Information

There are eight taps of beer on at Trans Brewing, with all the taps dedicated to in-house beers. The beers come in two sizes : regular (250 ml) at ¥770 and large (450 ml) at ¥1320. There is also beer flight option that gets your four 150 ml beers on the menu for ¥1760 though the choice is decided by the owners of the bar. In spite of this place being the taproom for Trans Brewing, there wasn’t an option to get any beers to takeaway outside of one bottled beer. A shame but also understandable seeing as how small the bar is. Moreover, there is no happy hour offer either.

Trans Brewing Beer Stand : Food & Menu Information

There’s just a basic selection of snacks on at the bar, so make sure you eat before coming here. The menus are in English, with enough descriptors on the menus for the beers. Moreover, there are some English speaking staff on occasion who will also join in your conversations.
