Bighand Bros Beer : Background
Bighand Bros Beer is a microbrewery that opened in 2023 in Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. The name Bighand Bros Beer comes from the image of a mole because the brewery is located underground in a building, and the mole’s hands are large, so it was named Bighand. The setting of the image character “Mole Brothers” is a story of beer-geek mole brothers who dig deep underground and dig up various minerals, and the beers are all named after valuable gems and important minerals.
On February 13, 2023, Bighand Bros Beer obtained a liquor manufacturing license (low-malt beer). The first batch of “Zircon” was completed on March 1st of the same year, and was unveiled at the pre-opening of “Teramachi Taproom” on April 12th of the same year. The head brewer at the time of writing, Nakamura-san, originally started out in IT; however, he spent four months at North Brewing in Leeds, where he used to live, from March to June 2022.

- Bighand Bros Hematite – a 5% British brown ale.
- Bighand Bros Padparaja – a 6% festbier first released in September 2024. A collaborative beer made in conjunction with Fuyo Beer Works and Craftbank Brewing.
- Bighand Bros Zircon – a 5% British golden ale that uses malt and hops imported from the UK and is also the flagship beer for the brewery.
