Gogoshima Beer Farm Information

Background

Gogoshima Beer Farm is a micro-brewery located on the island of Gogojima in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture. Opened in December 2022, it’s the result of one family’s bold move from Yokohama to this serene island in January of the same year. The founders have explained that they wanted to raise their family in a natural environment: closer to the sea, mountains, and farming communities. Yokohama, while vibrant, didn’t offer the same connection to land and nature that a small island could. Kōgojima offered a quiet, slower pace of life with beautiful surroundings, perfect for a lifestyle built around craft brewing and agriculture

The team behind Gogoshima Beer Farm renovated a 150-year-old traditional Japanese house (古民家) into their production site and taproom, designed with the help of the creative unit graf. They emphasise “land, people, and connection” — using local ingredients such as island-grown citrus, like iyokan, and rice from Ehime, collaborating with farmers, and even rescuing fruit that might have been discarded.
