It’s part of their winter seasonal lineup, specifically for Valentine’s Day, and can be found in both cans and on draught. As the name suggests, Choryo Orangette Porter is brewed using tangerine peels and takes its name from the French patisserie technique of candied orange peels in chocolate. Choryo Orangette Porter : Aroma & Taste
Choryo Orangette Porter poured out a pitch black colour with a thin amount of off-white, tan coloured head that left a few streaks down the side of the glass. The aroma though – wow – even when Choryo Orangette Porter was chilled, it had a punchy orange and chocolate aroma that was balanced, yet nuanced with some creaminess. There was an underlying coffee and black malt aroma also present but it was about the orange and chocolate.
The body to Choryo Orangette Porter was smooth as silk and didn’t have any of the acrid black malt flavours that can sometimes come with a porter. The orange and chocolate flavours were amplified more so as the beer warmed up, and combined with the coffee flavours, made this a well-rounded beer. The orange tartness was present, though it did not dominate over the other tastes in the beer.
Choryo Orangette Porter : The Bottom Line
Choryo Orangette Porter came out of nowhere and surprised me – a very good, well-balanced beer.
