Coedo Strawberry Wheat : Aroma & Taste
It’s not often Coedo come out with a new beer in bottles since Uetake-san upped and left – some very good draught only beers came out from Coedo but since Coedo Marihana was released, we’ve had to wait for a while to try some of their new beers. And with Coedo Strawberry Wheat, they’ve come up good.
Coedo Strawberry Wheat poured out a hazy orange colour with some flecks of red going on, and medium amount of fluffy white head that stayed throughout drinking. The aroma was strawberries from start to finish, along with some wheaty notes to the beer and a touch of sweetness from the malts to fight against the tart, yet sweet, strawberries. Once Coedo Strawberry Wheat had warmed up somewhat, there was a nice little dose of citrus sourness to the beer, and it was balanced nicely against the strawberries.
The body was rather full bodied, yet light, and that was down to the strawberries and their tartness. They brought a smooth sweetness to the beer, that coincided with some wheaty flavour. Coedo Strawberry Wheat had a light sweetness to the body though it was not cloying. It finished off with a light flourish of strawberry juiciness and then a slight tart sour aftertaste that lingered.
Coedo Strawberry Wheat : The Bottom Line
I can’t image this being a regular beer, but you know what? Coedo Strawberry Wheat was a tasty beer.
