Nomcraft Revelation : Background
Nomcraft Revelation is a 7% West Coast IPA from Nomcraft Brewing based in Aridagawa, Wakayama. It’s part of their canned and draught line-up, with it being a limited edition beer, so there’s a chance that at the time of reading this, the beer has sold out. It’s brewed using Helios, Columbus, Strata, and Wai Iti hops, with the latter being a new one here. Finally, the design of the can was done by a local artist who can be found on Instagram.

Nomcraft Revelation : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
Nomcraft Revelation poured out a light golden straw colour with a thin amount of sticky white head, leaving some thick streaks down the side of the glass throughout drinking.
The aroma was a combination of citrus and tropical fruits, combined with a residual dankness from the get-go. The fruits came in all guises – with some lemon, a touch of pineapple, and a dash of strawberry-like nose being present. Not your classic American West Coast IPA nose outside of the dankness though, I must admit. There was a touch of malt sweetness lying underneath it – a bit of pilsner nose though it didn’t detract from the hops.
As in the nose, the dankness reminded me of your classic WC-IPA, with a touch of pine being the most prominent aroma. The hops brought a distinct bitterness to the body with an initial punch though they subsided to the citrus and tropical notes coming through. The flavours were the same as in the nose – a dash of lemon, a pinch of pineapple, and a smidgen of strawberry – with them lingering on through drinking.
The body itself was quite dry, and as such, was thirst quenching, which made this beer very easy on the palate. No chance of it hanging around for long really. The bitterness also lingered on through the palate with just a light pilsner flavour from the malts supporting it all.
Nomcraft Revelation : The Bottom Line
Nomcraft Revelation isn’t a revolution on WC-IPA for starters, but it’s a solid take on a style that is slowly losing it’s touch.
