Hiroshima Neighbourly Lemo-vel GO HIROSHIMA is a 5% fruited beer from Hiroshima Neighbourly Brewing, based in Hiroshima. It’s part of their regular lineup and is available in bottles, cans, and also on draught. If it’s not obvious from the label, this beer is fruited using locally sourced lemons and navels oranges due to the fact that Hiroshima is the nation’s largest producer of both of these citrus fruits. The base for this beer is a golden ale and then the fruits are added during the secondary fermentation.

Hiroshima Neighbourly Lemo-vel GO HIROSHIMA : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
Without trying to use the name of this beer in this review is going to be tough due to its length; however, it did have a slightly hazy appearance with a thick white head on top that faded to a few bubbles around the top of it. The haze could have been due to the beer coming straight out of the fridge and into the glass – it was a hot day when I drank it!
The aroma was all lemons and oranges – but not a pithy or washing-up liquid like aroma thankfully. It did have a natural aroma to the beer though the beer base barely made it through into the aroma with just the faintest of faint malt sweetness coming through.
With so much citrus being used in the making of this beer, it wasn’t a surprise that the body to the beer also was a vibrant citrus flavour. And that’s much it really – lots of citrus in the form of lemon and orange but not much else was really noted. Just a touch of malt sweetness and that was it.

If you like your beers citrus, but without the hops, then this beer is for you, else it’s nothing special really.
