Susukino Yell Session IPA : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
Susukino Yell Session IPA poured out a lot darker than I would have liked for a session IPA – it was a very murky brownish colour, with some flecks of darker colours coming through. The head was soft and plump, though it didn’t leave much down the side of the glass.
The aroma was as murky as the nose – a very weird mix of smells being present, and none of them really resembling an IPA. It was oxidised for sure, and as for the supposed honey aroma, well it was missing from the beer. Overall, it didn’t smell anything like I would want to drink. Which is strange as in the bar, it was a decent beer.
And then the body – talk about a mess. This can had been taken from the fridges of a shop in Sapporo, so there’s no guarantee about how it was stored. It had an initial bitterness that segued into an oxidised and caramel mess of a beer that was tough to drink.
Susukino Yell Session IPA : The Bottom Line
A drain pour for this beer – a shame when the draught version was decent.
