Shared The Drinking Dead : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
The beer poured out a clear golden colour with a big plump frothy head, consisting of large bubbles. That same head though collapsed quickly to a thin layer of white bubbles on top.
In terms of hops, Shared The Drinking Dead had a big pine aroma – a classic West Coast IPA – verging on light dankness. It was a delight to smell, with a medium amount of citrus notes coming through. Those citrus notes of lemon and lime, combined with the aforementioned dankness, brought back some happy memories of beers gone by. There wasn’t much in terms of malt though, with just a touch of light caramel coming through.
The body was more of the same. An initial swift dankness, paired with the lemon and lime, was a delight to taste, though it didn’t last long. The malts brought some light caramel undertones to the beer, not quite cutting through the bitterness of the hops, but enough to let you know there was something else to this beer. It finished with a flourish of hop delight, but it was fleeting.
Shared The Drinking Dead : The Bottom Line
An old school West Coast IPA – a delight to drink, but no staying power.
