Shiga Kogen Fresh Hop Grisette : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste

The beer poured out a light, straw colour with some slight haze to the body. The head consisted of large, frothy white bubbles which faded fast. During drinking, there were some thick white rings around the edge of the glass too.

Additionally, in terms of aroma, the beer had an initial floral aroma, reminiscent of noble hops. The nose wasn’t overpowering. As it warmed up, a touch of lemon came through with a light wheaty nose. If anything, it was overall a light, aromatic smelling beer.

It would be nice to have drunk this in summer instead of winter. The body was light and refreshing, with a crisp noble bite to it. Once again, the lemon came through, only just though, to give it some extra dimension. Moreover, there was an underlying wheat note to the beer, but all the flavours were well balanced.

Beer : The Bottom Line

A decent drinking beer for a warm summer’s day. Perhaps even an Indian summer’s day.
