This Brewing : The Bottom Line
Like all new breweries, I didn’t visit This Brewing for the first few months it was open, but I am so glad I went here! The beers that I had were well made and to style. The space is nice and relaxing, and the prices are reasonable considering where I was drinking in Tokyo. I will definitely be coming back to This Brewing in the future as I want to try more of their beers. The whole place is non-smoking, has no table charge; however, I didn’t notice any wifi in the area.
This Brewing : Background
This Brewing is located in the Taito area of Tokyo, but inside of the Yamanote line. As you walk to the brewery though, it’s located between a number of train stations but is more of commuter town it seems – as soon as you step off the main road of Route 437 that runs through to Ueno, it’s almost as if you’re in a quiet town in the middle of Kanagawa. Very surreal but also gives This Brewing more of a communal place to drink at.
This Brewing opened in July 2023 and encompasses both a brewery on the first floor behind the standing bar counter, and a second floor tasting room. It’s less than a 2 minute walk from Yushima station, on the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line.
This Brewing : Atmosphere & Interior
As you approach This Brewing, you’re greeted by a few large glass windows that open out onto the street, and some outside seating concrete blocks. It’s hard not for this place to stand out, with it looking all new and clean compared to other buildings in the area. It’s all light and airy inside as well, on both the first and second floors, in spite of the cold, modern desire for blank concrete walls.
On the first floor, there is space for about 8 people at the counter, with a few seats outside, and on the second floor, there is space for around 20 people, at various high table combinations and shelves for people to stand and drink at. The whole place is non-smoking and has no table charge either. However, though there is some wifi from This Brewing in the bar, I couldn’t see any passwords or details to connect.
This Brewing : Beer & Tap Information
This Brewing has 8 taps for beer lined up in the fridges, though there were only 6 beers on when I went. The beers are from This Brewing with some guest beers from domestic breweries. The beers come in two sizes to drink in : regular (270 ml) from ¥800 and large (470 ml) from ¥1,200, with guest beers being slighlty higher.
There is also an option for take out beers in plastic cups (350 ml) from ¥1,000. On top of this, there is also a beer fridge at the front of the store as you come in where you can get some cans or bottles to drink, though if you do choose to drink in, there is a corkage fee of ¥200. There wasn’t any beer flight option or happy hour on the day I went to This Brewing.

There were some basic foods on at This Brewing with mostly snacks being offered with some bar nuts and cheeses.
With that being said, there was a panini option available.
All of the menus are in English and the bar staff on the day did speak some English to my Australian friend, which was rather nice of them to do that. All of the prices include tax.
