Teenage Plaisir : Background
Teenage Plaisir is a 10% triple hazy IPA from Teenage Brewing, based in Saitama. It’s part of their canned and draught lineup, though at the time of writing, its availability is unknown. The beer uses a myriad of hops during brewing with HBC 431, Mosaic Cryo, Mosaic, Nectaron, Riwaka, Citra Spectrum, Strata, and Saaz. Like other beers from Teenage Brewing, they recommend some music to be listened to during drinking with Herbert / Bodily Functions (Album) being the music of choice, and the food pairing of choice being Chicken Gorgonzola – like someone is going to make that specifically to eat with this beer. Teenage Plaisir is also the second collaboration with the Isetan Beer Bar in Shinjuku

Teenage Plaisir : Appearance
Very hazy dull golden straw colour with a plump white head on top. Head leaves some sticky lacing down the side of the glass with a touch of off-white streaks.
Teenage Plaisir : Aroma
Complex – there’s almost too much going on in the beer. Multiple citrus and tropical aromas present with them screaming through one another. Citrus notes of grapefruit, lemon, lime, orange, alongside some peach with musk melon, and some tropical notes of guava, mango, and pineapple. There was an underlying malt sweetness to it all, that was a touch on the dry side but helped the hops to “pop” through some more.
Teenage Plaisir : Taste
Potent alcohol punch, that leaves the palate quickly to allow the hop flavours to develop. Touch of hop burn to the body though with the aforementioned aromas in the nose being present in the body – lots of citrus and tropical flavours going on makes this beer a complex concoction to get through. In spite of the malts being restrained, the beer was full bodied and had a solid mouthfeel to it.
Teenage Plaisir : The Bottom Line
High ABV IPAs can sometimes be a mess of flavours but this is complex and enticing. Very drinkable and tasty.
