Garcia Brewing Noche De Fiesta : Background

Garcia Brewing Noche De Fiesta is an 8.5% imperial stout from Garcia Brewing, based in Shizuoka city, in Shizuoka, Japan. It’s part of their winter lineup and can be found in cans though we’re unusual at the time of writing if its available in kegs. The beer uses organic cacao nibs from the brewers home country of Peru with its name in English being “nightlife”! The name of the first stout produced by Garcia Brewing was “Noche de Fiesta,” so they named this beer in honour of it.

Garcia Brewing Noche De Fiesta : Appearance

Garcia Brewing Noche De Fiesta poured out a pitch black colour with a thin layer of off-white head, that had a slight brownish colour to it. The thin layer of head left some semblence of stickiness to it, with a few bubbles down the edge of glass, with a small amuont of sediment at the bottom of the glass after drinking.

Garcia Brewing Noche De Fiesta : Aroma

For an imperial stout, Garcia Brewing Noche De Fiesta lacked a strong punchy aroma that is associated with the style. In fact, it was all rather light aroma. Though Garcia Brewing has used cacao nibs in this beer, and it proudly states on the can, the chocoalte aroma was much milder than expected. Garcia Brewing Noche De Fiesta had some roasted black malt to it once it had warmed up.

Garcia Brewing Noche De Fiesta : Taste

With Garcia Brewing Noche De Fiesta having a low amount of carbonation, the beer was smooth on the palate, but was surprisingly light bodied as well. I was hoping for something at least medium bodied with a touch of stickiness but Garcia Brewing Noche De Fiesta tasted more like a stout with some added alcohol to it. The cacao nibs brought a slight edge of chocolate to it though once again, it didn’t really seem like much.

The flavours in the end were more like a watered down imperial stout that needed some more body to it really with just a faint lingering aftertaste.

Garcia Brewing Noche De Fiesta : The Bottom Line

Garcia Brewing Noche De Fiesta has a nice can and isn’t a bad tasting beer but lacks the flavours and body that I have come to expect from imperial stouts.
