Romantic Village IPA, also known as Utsunomiya Craft Beer IPA, is a limited edition beer, available annually from May through to October. Even though this is an IPA, during the brewing process, the beer goes has two to three times the usual amount of hops added. Romantic Village IPA is available in bottle form and if you’re lucky, you might be able to find it on draft.
Romantic Village IPA Aroma and Taste
Romantic Village IPA had an intense deep red, almost rust like colour to it. I took five pictures, not because I needed a new wallpaper, but because the photos didn’t do justice to the colour of the beer. The head was a plentiful but not too much while it was frothy and airy to the taste. The aroma of Romantic Village IPA was hoppy with some malt to the backend, followed up with mild citrus notes as well. So far so good.
If you’re going to drink an IPA, then you best be ready for the inevitable bitterness and Romantic Village IPA was no exception. The usual IPA flavours were present but not as intense as the colour led me to believe. The aftertaste was slightly bitter but as the beer had warmed up, it wasn’t as bitter as it was when I first drank some.
Romantic Village IPA One-Line Review
Romantic Village IPA does not have much going on besides the usual IPA flavours but sometimes that’s a good thing.
Where to Buy Romantic Village IPA
Romantic Village IPA can be bought from the Romantic Village Beer homepage here. I managed to get this bottle from the Keyaki Hiroba Beer Festival event back in September.

I live in Sakura. I was at Utsunomiya station waiting for the train home and found this beer in a small store. I had to buy a few bottles. It is hard to get any IPA out this direction. I will buy more the next time I am in Utsunomiya. It’s not to bad.
Thanks for the comment. Sorry to hear that it’s difficult to get beers, especially IPAs, out there.
Try looking at World Beer Market or other online stores that will deliver to your house cold. https://beertengoku.com/tag/online-store/
