Hiroshima Neighbourly Nicaragua Coffee Stout : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
Hiroshima Neighbourly Nicaragua Coffee Stout poured out a pitch black colour with a large, frothy head on top that left thick rings around the edge of the glass during drinking.
The aroma was first and foremost of coffee, with a deep roasted nose to it, and then some roasted black malts came along. Combined with notes of chocolate and coffee, it was a decent smelling beer without any off-aromas being present. The black malt aroma was restrained and wasn’t abrasive or acrid on the nose.
With the addition of coffee and usage of black malt, I was expecting a bold roasted flavour, which is exactly what I got. The flavours lingered throughout drinking – chocolate and coffee – with some light creamy notes also coming along as the beer warmed up.
Hiroshima Neighbourly Nicaragua Coffee Stout : The Bottom Line
A decent coffee stout, with a nice thick body and strong flavours. Not the faint of heart mind.
