Background
Hop Japan was founded in August 2020, and is located in Fukushima, Japan. The aim behind the brewery was to renovate Green Park Miyakoji, a public facility in Tamura City, Fukushima Prefecture, which had been largely dormant due to the nuclear accident, and opened the brewery that also takes part in hop cultivation. Their beers are based on based on the theme of “Yin Yang and the Five Elements,” which represent nature, the earth, and the universe, while feeling this connection every day.
Moreover, Green Park Miyakoji, where the Hop Garden Brewery is located, is located in the center of the naturally rich Abukuma Plateau. The vast grounds are home to many spots for enjoying the outdoors including an auto campsite managed by Tamura City.
Beer Reviews
The following are some of the beers we’ve had:
- Hop Japan Abukuma Crystal – A 5.5% India Pale Lager that is brewed using locally grown hops, and has the theme of water behind it.
- Hop Japan Abakuma Fresh Hop – A 6% American IPA that uses locally grown Chinook hops and has the theme of earth behind it.
- Hop Japan Abakuma Red – A 7% rye IPA that uses locally grown rye alongside locally grown hops with the theme of fire behind it.
