Kyufuku Beer Stand (Marugame / Kagawa)

Kyufuku Beer Stand : The Bottom Line

Kyufuku Beer Stand should be on your list of places to get to – though that’s not hard as there’s not much else in Marugame to drink at. Though the beer selection is on the narrow side with only three taps, the beers are very high quality and worthy of your time and attention. Yet there are also bottles you can buy to drink in, or takeaway. You’ll need to eat before coming to Kyufuku Beer Stand as there’s only some small snacks on the menu. Finally, there’s no table charge as this is a standing bar – and it’s cosy for sure.

Kyufuku Beer Stand Inside

Kyufuku Beer Stand : Background

Kyufuku Brewing Honjima have their main taproom on the island of Honjima; however, access to the island is done by a ferry, and then the taproom isn’t the most accessible of places to get to. So what do you do when you have people wanting to drink your beers but unable to get to the island? You open up a smaller tap room on the main island, at the city closest to your taproom. However, when there’s not many places open that you can use, what do you do? Well you create a small pop-up that goes on to be more successful than you thought and you extend the opening hours.

Kyufuku Beer Stand was originally only going to be open for a few months in the summer of 2025; yet it has proven to be so popular that they extended the opening to every weekend for the foreseeable future. Located less than a minute walk from the north exit of JR Marugame station, it’s in a prime location for people to pop in for a quick beer or two, before heading home, or back to the hotel.

Kyufuku Beer Stand : Atmosphere & Interior

Kyufuku Beer Stand is a small place and it’s also a standing bar – so no table charges apply here. On the day I went, there was one person already drinking, and the bar felt full up when I entered. Another two people entered the bar a bit later and we were pretty close to one another – which is good for starting up conversation with others. In spite of this being a small bar, it didn’t feel claustrophobic, which was helped by the many windows, and its light and airy nature.

The long wall table was at the perfect height for me at 1m83cm, no slouching needed, and also just at the right height to lean against. The bar is non-smoking and there is also some free WiFi that you can connect to, with this being provided by the local city government it seems.

Kyufuku Beer Stand : Beer & Tap Information

Kyufuku Beer Stand has three taps of craft beer on, with all the beers from Kyufuku Brewing Honjima of course. The beers come in two sizes, but in wine glasses in this case : small (240 ml) at ¥770 and large (400 ml) at ¥1100 for all the beers. There is also a three beer flight which gets you any three beers of 150 ml servings for ¥1,350.

Don’t have time to drink in? Well then you can always get a plastic cup to take away with the same sizes of beers, but the large being ¥1000 instead. Finally, you can also get some of the Kyufuku Brewing Honjima beers in bottles to drink in, at no extra cost, or to takeaway.

Kyufuku Beer Stand : Food & Menu Information

There’s some basic snacks on the menu so make sure you eat before coming here. The menus are mostly in Japanese, but there’s enough English on them so you can order some beers. Finally, all the prices include tax so there’s no surprises at the end of drinking.
