Hakobune : The Bottom Line
Tokyo Dome has a number of craft beer bars now but Hakobune is one of better ones – it’s got a great little atmosphere; reasonably priced beers, and some of the best chips we’ve come across. Perhaps it was the anticipation of seeing Oasis after that made this place all the better, but I walked away happy and will definitely be coming back here again when I’m in the area. Hakobune is non-smoking, has no table charge, and also has some free WiFi. Finally, with the outside terrace, they also allow dogs here – great when the weather is nice.

Hakobune : Background
Tokyo Dome City has seen a lot of renovation since the early 2020s, with plenty of new shops and restaurants opening around the area. One area of interest are the box containers; with one of them housing Hakobune. The bar opened in September 2024 and places itself as a place to come before a concert, baseball game, or a show for a couple of beers and a bite to eat. With the bar being located in the southern area of Tokyo Dome City, it’s accessible from Suidobashi station.
Hakobune : Atmosphere & Interior
Let’s get straight to it – walking into Hakobune felt like a blast from the past with the Brimmer Beer Box in Omotesando, Tokyo coming back to memory. Except this place seems a bit larger as it appears that they have joined two shipping containers together to make a bit more space for the bar.
Inside, there is space for around 16 people, though on the day we went, it was pouring with rain, so the outside terrace was closed, even with the canopy over the terrace. There is also a standing area at the entrance to Hakobune though be warned – it’s right in front of the air-con so you could be blasted with hot air in the colder months, but then cold air-con during the warmer months.
For the outside terrace area, there are two parts to it – a standing area on the first floor, and then seating on the second floor on top of the boxes. It’s a nice concept to have with a good view over the Tokyo Dome City area. The whole place is non-smoking and there is no table charge, wherever you sit.

Hakobune : Beer & Tap Information
Hakobune has eight taps of craft beer, with all of them being domestic on the day we went. The beers come in two sizes : regular (300 ml) from ¥850 and then large (420 ml) from ¥1,150. There’s no option of a beer flight nor is there an option for takeaway beers in plastic cups. Hakobune does have a list of bottles and cans on sale, with a small fridge located at the front of the store. There’s no corkage fee as the prices for the bottles and cans already include a slight surcharge.

Hakobune : Food & Menu Information
Though the bar does have a variety of food on the menu, with them specialising in Japanese curry, it was the snacks that are worth having. The Brew Chips are made from the remnants of beer making, specifically the malts that are used to make the body of the beer, and come in different flavours. However, the chips are fantastic and actually tasted like KFC without the greasiness to them.
The menus are mostly in Japanese thought there is some free Wi-Fi so you can connect your phone and use an app to translate it. There is some English for the beer names. Finally, all of the prices include tax so there are no surprises at the end of drinking.
