Yokohama Wheat : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
Yokohama Wheat poured out a slightly hazy golden colour with a thin amount of white head on top, though it didn’t last long, as it faded to a few bubbles on top. No streaks or legs down the side of this glass.
The aroma from the beer was mostly a wheaty note – no surprise there – but with a touch of Belgian funk going on. The yeasty notes were light on the nose – nothing abrasive or offensive – though they lacked depth or staying power. A slight phenolic nose popped through as the beer warmed up, but it was rather lacklustre.
The body was more of the same really – a gentle, soothing flavour of wheat and a touch of Belgian yeast funk being noted as the beer warmed up. Overall, the mouthfeel was low bodied, and lacked oomph or depth really as the flavour never really developed past the wheat and yeast funk.
Yokohama Wheat : The Bottom Line
Not a bad beer, but lacks depth of flavour during drinking so it became one-sided. It is easy-drinking though.
