Nomcraft Nomclassic Tripel : Background
Nomcraft Nomclassic Tripel is an 8% Belgian tripel from Nomcraft Brewing based in Aridgawa, Wakayama. It’s part of their canned and draught lineup, and is also one of their “classic” beers, where they reproduce styles that perhaps have fallen out of favour in modern craft beer times. Nomcraft Nomclassic Tripel is brewed using Columbus and Saaz hops though more importantly, they use Belgian yeast to ferment the beer.

Nomcraft Nomclassic Tripel : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
Nomcraft Nomclassic Tripel poured out a light orange-browinsh colour with a thick, sticky white head on top that left some thick rings around the glass during drinking.
The beer had your classic Belgian tripel aroma – a pungent yeast phenolic nose that was bold and punchy, yet also warming and soothing given some time. As the nose opened up, some hints of spice came through with clove and a touch of honey being noted. There was a light note of pilsner sweetness on the nose but it was the yeast that was the star, and rightfully so.
With the beer being 8%, I was hoping for a warming alcohol body, which came through. It wasn’t abrasive nor hot on the palate, but soothing on the palate. The yeast was likewise present with the clove and honey flavours supporting the full-bodiedness of the beer. The only downside to this beer is that having been released in summer, and not winter, I won’t have any left to savour during the cooler months.
Nomcraft Nomclassic Tripel : The Bottom Line
A solid representation of a Belgian tripel – it’s not for everyone, but for everyone that lieks tripels.
