Buzzed Lamb Brewing (Taito / Tokyo)

Buzzed Lamb Brewing : The Bottom Line

I enjoyed the atmosphere at Buzzed Lamb Brewing, but more importantly, I also enjoyed the beers from Buzzed Lamb Brewing. The brewpub had a solid community feel going on, and I would happily come back here again, when I’m in the area. Though it might be hard to get a seat in here as it does feel a little cramped inside, especially when it’s busy. Minor quibbles aside, the whole place is non-smoking, is dog friendly with its little outside drinking area. One word of note – Buzzed Lamb Brewing is cashless so make sure you bring a credit card or some electronic form of payment.

Buzzed Lamb Brewing Inside

Buzzed Lamb Brewing : Background

Buzzed Lamb Brewing is a brewpub located in the Yanaka area of Taito-ku, Tokyo. The building that the brewpub is situated in used to be an old sake shop, with the exterior façade kept to its original state. It’s such a beautiful exterior – there is a cedar ball hanging in front of the store. A cedar ball is what you would expect from a sake brewery – not a brewpub.

Buzzed Lamb Brewing got its name from two parts – one part from the style of haircut the owners have and the other part is the owners area both Aries – the symbol for that being a sheep. The brewery opened in August 2024 and is located around a ten minute walk from Nippori station on the JR Yamanote line.

Buzzed Lamb Brewing : Atmosphere & Interior

As you enter Buzzed Lamb Brewing, you can see that they’ve tried to keep the interior of the brewery and bar itself as traditional as possible to the original buildings. There is lots of light brown wood around and also white walls – two very traditional colours with a sake brewery. It’s also very light inside, with lots of natural light coming in as well.

On the day we went to the bar, only the first floor was open and it was getting busy at 2 pm. The first floor has space for around 12 people, at various high table and counter seats. There is also a second floor with space for around 20 people, which can be used when the first floor is getting full though we were not special enough to get sent up there. Outside of Buzzed Lamb Brewing, there is also seating for a small group of people, though be warned, it’s not covered so if it rains, you will get wet. There is no table charge here and the whole place is non-smoking as well.

Buzzed Lamb Brewing : Beer & Tap Information

With this place being a brewpub, all of the beers on tap were from the brewery next door. With six taps of craft beer, there were thankfully a few different styles of beer on tap – not all just IPAs. The beers come in two sizes : regular (240 ml) from ¥800 and pint (480 ml) from ¥1,200. Unfortunately, there are no beer flights or happy hour offers on the beers. Moreover, there is no option to get beers to takeaway nor are there any plans for it.

On the day, I had three beers – the Mosaic Tame, the Helles, and finally the Session Hazy IPA. More about the beers in a beer roundup to come later. However, they were well made and tasted pretty much to style.

Buzzed Lamb Brewing : Food & Menu Information

In spite of the animal of focus in the name, there is a decent selection of food that is catered to everyone across the board. I had to have the lamb gyoza, only rivalled by Gold’n Bub, which were flavourful and juicy. There were some vegetarian options on the menu as well, not just chips, so everyone really is catered here. The menus are in English for the food, but the drink menu had the names and styles – what more do you need really?
