Our Brewing Hoppy Hour : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste

The beer poured out a slightly hazy golden straw colour with a thin layer of white head on top, that faded fast to a few bubbles around the edge of the glass.

For the aroma, it was initially a pineapple aroma which then segued into a citrus nose of grapefruit and lemon. There was barely any discernible malt aroma from the beer, nor was there anything coming off from the yeast – no phenols or peculiar aromas. As the beer warmed up some more, a note of melon was present, contrasting nicely against the pineapple and citrus notes.

The body began with a well-rounded smooth bitterness alongside a very dry and light body. It would have been great to have had some more body to it, to help support the hop flavours, as they faded all too fast from the palate for my liking. The tropical notes of pineapple and some melon played off the citrus notes off grapefruit and lemon, but were all too fleeting really. Perhaps the beer had been designed to keep you coming back in for more to drink.

Our Brewing Hoppy Hour : The Bottom Line

A solid beer though it lacked staying power in the flavour profile.
