Farmentry Muxum Obverse : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
Farmentry Muxum Obverse poured out a dark amber reddish colour, with some flecks of brown throughout the beer. There was a large frothy head on top, which was a lighter colour than the body, but still had some signs of colour to it.
The initial aroma was exactly like it says on the can. A big malty aroma of some sweet toffee / caramel notes, with a touch of underlying floral and earthiness from the hops. With this being a real ale version in a can, i.e. the carbonation was lower than normal, it really suited this style. There were no discernible off aromas to this beer, either when chilled or after it had been given time to warm up.
The body began with a smoothness to it that was on the sweeter side, with just a touch of bitterness to it. That bitterness was fleeting and gave way to some toffee / caramel flavours during drinking. The hops brought some earthiness to the body, to takeaway just a bit from the malts, but they were truly the star in this beer. As Farmentry Muxum Obverse warmed up, there was a hint of chocolate, though it was muted, though it was the toffee / caramel flavour that lingered on.
Farmentry Muxum Obverse : The Bottom Line
A solid beer, I would like to see this on nitro one day as it was super smooth.
