Nami no Oto Breakfast Club is a 5.5% coffee pale ale from Nami no Oto Brewing, based in Minami Awaji, on Awaji, in Hyogo, Japan. It’s part of their canned and draught lineup, though its availability is unknown at the time of writing. The beer is brewed with beans specially blended for the beer by Awajishima BASE COFFEE, a specialty coffee roaster in Minami Awaji City. A light roast was used to maximize the natural fruitiness of the coffee beans though at the time of writing; however, it’s unknown what hops went into the making of this beer.

Nami no Oto Breakfast Club : Appearance
It poured out a brownish amber-orange colour with a thin amount of white head, consisting of medium to large bubbles that dissipate away to leave a thin layer on top.
Nami no Oto Breakfast Club : Aroma
The coffee aroma was the first to come through, but that’s not to say that it dominated the beer’s aroma. The coffee aroma was followed up with a citrusy aroma of grapefruit and lemon, alongside a faint dusting of biscuit malt aroma, that just lingered in the background.
Nami no Oto Breakfast Club : Taste
As in the nose, the main flavour in the beer was coffee; however, it was a mellowed out aroma, without the the abrasive nature that can sometimes come from a dark roasted coffee bean. There was a touch of hoppy bitterness present, but it was a supporting flavour to the coffee. Alongside those coffee notes was a citrus-like quality to the beer, with the aforementioned grapefruit and lemon being present, while as the beer warmed up, some biscuit malt was present to support the rest of the flavours as the coffee lingered on.
