RepuBrew Hop Kings : Background
RepuBrew Hop Kings is a 7.5% West Coast IPA from RepuBrew, based in Numazu, Shizuoka. It was first released in November 2024 in cans and on draft. However, at the time of writing it’s unknown if it’s a limited release because it’s a collaboration brew with Harland Brewing. This beer uses something called “Hyper Boost” Mosaic, supposedly to increase the hop intensity. Besides that, RepuBrew used Citra, Columbus, Dynaboost, Hyperboost Mosaic, Motueka, and Simcoe.
Both DynaBoost and HyperBoost are products from Yakima Valley Hops. DynaBoost is an oil-enriched extract that flows effortlessly at ambient temperatures. Also, HyperBoost is used to add hop aroma anywhere pellets are normally used, including cold-side applications.

RepuBrew Hop Kings : Appearance, Aroma, and Taste
The beer poured out a golden honey colour with a large frothy white head on top. Moreover, the head dissipated quite quickly, leaving some thick streaks down the glass.
Aroma
Dank and resinous to begin with. This beer is definitely a classic West Coast IPA from the aroma for certain. As the resinous nature subsided, it opened up to a light citrus aroma of grapefruit and lemon. There was a touch of apricots in the backend once it warmed up some more. Following on, a dab of malt sweetness followed though it was mild in comparison.
Taste
It began with a good swipe of bitterness, before the soothing dank, resinous body kicked in. That dankness lingered right through drinking. However, the flavour was more than just that. Some citrus notes once appeared, with the apricots lingering just behind. The beer was supported by the malt sweetness, being soothing rather than dominating.
The Bottom Line
A fantastic beer from RepuBrew. Above all, a suprise for sure and one I want more of.
