In Tha Door Brewing : The Bottom Line
In Tha Door Brewing is a little bit out of the way in Kobe, but I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place and would happily go here again when I’m in Kobe. I’d really recommend getting here on a sunny day and enjoying the small terrace outside for some drinks with friends and a dog. The whole place is non-smoking, including the terrace, has some free WiFi too (though you have to ask the staff for the password), and the chips are delectable! The beers are pretty good too.
In Tha Door Brewing : Background
In Tha Door Brewing is located on Rokko Island, a man made structure, in the south-east part of Kobe, Hyogo. The bar itself doesn’t house the brewery, that is also located on Rokko Island, but this bar is the main spot to sit down and drink the beers. You can take the Rokko Liner from Sannomiya station in the centre of Kobe to get here.
In Tha Door Brewing : Atmosphere & Interior
As you walk through the Market Scene building to get to In Tha Door Brewing, you’re greeted by a large terrace, overflowing with trees, grasses, and bricks – all inviting you in to sit down and relax in a peaceful oasis amongst the high rise buildings around you on Rokko Island. The peaceful serenity of the area means that it’s hard to believe someone has committed this area of the shopping centre to a local brewery’s taproom. Of course, that’s good news for drinkers.
When you do enter In Tha Door Brewing, you’re greeted by a large open space with plenty of seating that’s not too close to the person next to you. Inside, there’s seating for around 20 people, at various counter seats, window seats, and tables dotted around the bar. The whole place is no smoking and has no table charge either. There is also some free wifi at In Tha Door Brewing, though you do have to ask the staff for the password.
In Tha Door Brewing : Beer & Tap Information
In Tha Door Brewing only has their own beers on tap, with 12 taps of beer on the day we went. Beers come in two sizes : regular (355 ml) at ¥770 for the regular beers and ¥1210 for the seasonal & special beers, alongside large (560 ml) at ¥1210 for the regular beers and ¥1760 for the seasonal & special beers. There wasn’t an option for a beer flight though there are bottles of beers to takeaway at the fridge on the right of the bar. All the prices include tax, but I was disappointed there was no beer flight on offer as I was eager to try a few of the beers.
The happy hour is a peculiar one as it runs on weekdays from 17:00 – 19:00 and you get one regular-size beer of your choice from a selection of five regular beers and an assortment of the day’s entrée for ¥1320 (regular price ¥1650). Not the greatest deal really but it’s on offer.
In Tha Door Brewing : Food & Menu Information
The menus are both in English and in Japanese with plenty of options though I wish I had gone for the burgers as a local, and well regarded restauratn called Hyoes, makes the patties. I did plump for the anchovy butter chips and while they were absolutely delicious, I could have done with a larger portion.
