Setouchi Float : Background
Setouchi Float is a 6.5% DDH IPA from Setouchi Beer, based in Setouchi, Kagawa. It’s part of their wave lineup, so its availability at the time of writing is unknown. Setouchi Float is brewed using Cryo Mosaic, Simcoe, and Strata hops. Setouchu Float was double dry hopped at two different temperatures though in its description, at what temperatures is unknown.

Setouchi Float : Appearance
The beer poured out a dark honey colour with a large amount of frothy white head – plenty of big poppable bubbles going on, that left some streaks down the side of the glass.
Setouchi Float : Aroma
Bubblegum and tropical notes – mango and pineapple. As the beer warmed up, some strawberry notes came through with a piney dankness just lying under the surface.
Setouchi Float : Taste
Smooth bitterness from start to finish – nothing overpowering here. Hoppy flavours pervaded throughout drinking – mango and pineapple as in the nose. Hops could be perceived as being overdone due to the grassy nature of them – certainly a fresh beer.
Setouchi Float : The Bottom Line
After so many iffy beers from Setouchi Beer, I’m happy that I’ve had a decent one from them. Worth finding and trying.
