Rokko Saison is a 5% saison from Rokko Beer, based in Kobe, Hyogo. It’s part of their canned and draught line up and is available all-year round. Rokko Saison is also brewed with the addition of honey during the fermentation process and also won a medal in the 2021 World Beer Awards for being best saison in Japan.

Rokko Saison : Appearance
Dull amber orange colour with a fluffy white head on top made up of medium sized bubbles that left a few bubbles around the edge of the glass.
Rokko Saison : Aroma
Peculiar – not your typical saison aroma but with the addition of honey in the beer, that was to be expected. Slight grapey aroma as it warms up, though an unusual phenolic flavour came throughout.
Rokko Saison : Taste
Strange. Not your usual saison flavour and as such, I couldn’t really get into it. Some honey notes during drinking with phenol flavours – not quite a drain pour but not one I want to drink again.

Very much a swing and a miss from Rokko.
