T0ki Clean Code is a 6.5% West Coast IPA from T0ki Brewery, based on Sado Island, in Niigata. It’s part of their regular lineup, and can be found in both cans and on draught. Though it’s part of their regular lineup, T0ki Clean Code is also part of their evolving range so this version of the beer may be a once and done effort. This version of the beer was brewed using Idaho Gem, Citra, Mosaic, and Pahto hops.

T0ki Clean Code : Appearance
Slightly golden hazy colour with a thin white layer of small bubbles on top – bit too hazy for a classic West Coast IPA. No yeast sediment noted in the bottom.
T0ki Clean Code : Aroma
Definitely not your classic West Coast IPA, with a bubblegum like aroma of sweets – more a modern WC-IPA with a mango sweetness alongside some pineapple. There was a touch of dankness to the beer once it had warmed up, but not really enough for my liking. Some underlying malt sweetness was present with a light caramel body of note.
T0ki Clean Code : Taste
Low bitterness with more prominence given to the hoppy flavours – mango sweetness with some pineapple notes that followed. Medium bodied with some more of dank notes coming through as the beer warmed up but it isn’t your classic West Coast IPA.

A modern twist on a loved classic – if you’re looking for something old-school, then give this one a miss.
