Shared Brewery : Background
Shared Brewery is located in Hachioji, West Tokyo, and the brewery opened in September 2017 as a place where the community can come along and brew their own beer on a professional system. Customers can make their own original beer by hand from small batches. The brewing staff will provide careful guidance, so even beginners can enjoy making beer with confidence. There is also a taproom next to the brewery where you can try some of the beers that both the professional brewer has made as well as some suggestions from the community.
Shared Brewery is run by Daisuke Kobayashi, the representative director and brewer. He decided to start brewing beer in order to earn an MBA (Master of Business Administration) at Hosei University Graduate School of Management/Graduate School of Innovation Management. He created two to three types of business models, including those for businesses other than beer. One of these projects, the “Shared Brewery Business” received high praise and won an award, which led to investment and the decision to start a business.

- Shared Coast Dwellers – a 7% Nordic IPA that uses Kveik yeast and Cryo Citra, Idaho7, Cryo Pop, Simcoe hops.
- Shared Misty Mountain – a 6% hazy IPA brewed using Citra hops
