Ise Kadoya Nou ga Torokeru Ultra Heaven is a 10% triple IPA from Ise Kadoya, based in Mie, in Mie, Japan. It’s part of their limited edition run of beers can be found in both bottles and on draught across Japan. Ise Kadoya Nou ga Torokeru Ultra Heaven takes its name from the idea of being able to drink lots of these (ha!) and then you will basically transcend to heaven – I assume by talking to God on the old white porcelain toilet. Ise Kadoya Nou ga Torokeru Ultra Heaven is brewed using Amarillo, Centennial, Columbus, Mosaic and Simcoe hops.

Ise Kadoya Nou ga Torokeru Ultra Heaven : Aroma & Taste
For some reason, I decide to combine two triple IPAs in one drinking session to really see how they would stand up, with Ise Kadoya Nou ga Torokeru Ultra Heaven being paired alongside against Y Market Masterpiece Dual. The idea would be to see how the style varies and if there is a reason to drink a triple IPA besides just alcohol bang for your buck. Spoken like a true craft beer drinker right there.
Ise Kadoya Nou ga Torokeru Ultra Heaven poured out a dark amber brown colour with a decent amount of fluffy white head on top that left streaks down the side of the glass. The aroma though was a classic pungent American triple IPA – full on caramel with a resinous pine aroma that dominated over throughout drinking, and brought along with it a punchy alcohol nose – there was no holding back with Ise Kadoya Nou ga Torokeru Ultra Heaven. It wasn’t going to so much melt your brain but pummel it into submission, begging for some respite. When it warmed up, it didn’t relent, with just a touch of citrus aroma coming through to take some of the edge off.
The body carried on with its sensory assault, bringing forth a sweet yet bitter punch to the tastebuds that was thoroughly based on the caramel and pine notes as found in the nose. The alcohol brought a slight heat to the beer when chilled, but became abrasive when the beer had warmed up. Ise Kadoya Nou ga Torokeru Ultra Heaven was a thick, full bodied beer – no chance of enjoying more than a sip at a god, and just ended up being a very heavy beer to finish. The aftertaste was a long lasting sweetness with a burning alcohol heat.
Ise Kadoya Nou ga Torokeru Ultra Heaven : The Bottom Line
Ise Kadoya Nou ga Torokeru Ultra Heaven is everything that is wrong with triple IPAs – its sickly sweet, alcohol heat just makes it a boring beer.
