Devilcraft Midnight Seduction is a 12% imperial stout from Devilcraft Brewery, based in Shinagawa, in Tokyo, Japan. It’s part of their limited edition range, and can be found in both bottles and on tap at their bars. Devilcraft Midnight Seduction is brewed using vanilla, maple syrup, and cinnamon.
Devilcraft Midnight Seduction Aroma and Taste
Devilcraft Midnight Seduction poured out a thick, pitch black colour with just a tiny amount of tan-like head on top that faded to leave an oily slick on top of the beer. The aromas coming off Devilcraft Midnight Seduction were fantastic – subtle vanilla, with an edge of burnt caramel / maple syrup, thick coffee notes with some chocolate as well. There was no hint of acridity from the black malts, but there was a some roasted black malt that came through once the beer had warmed up. There was an edge of spiciness to it, with the cinnamon just managing to sneak through once Devilcraft Midnight Seduction had warmed up.
The body appeared to be thick and gloopy as it poured out of the bottle, and had a velvety texture to it. With Devilcraft Midnight Seduction being so smooth, it was hard not to want to drink it quickly, as it tasted like someone had made some waffles and added some thick Turkish coffee to the mix. In spite of that, Devilcraft Midnight Seduction wasn’t anything like a pastry stout, as the vanilla and maple syrup flavours were secondary to the black malt, coffee, and chocolate notes that permeated throughout drinking. Devilcraft Midnight Seduction did have a lingering spiciness to it that was neither potent nor unwelcome, but the flavours were so well balanced that the spiciness didn’t take anything away from the others.
Devilcraft Midnight Seduction The Bottom Line
Devilcraft Midnight Seduction is delightfully decadent. More please!
