Devilcraft Black Igneous is a 6.5% oatmeal stout from Devilcraft Brewery, based in Shinagawa, in Tokyo, Japan. It’s part of their draft line up, though due to COVID-19, it began to be bottled. As such, its availability at the time of writing is unknown.
Devilcraft Black Igneous Aroma and Taste
Devilcraft Black Igneous poured out a pitch black colour with a thin amount of tan-like head on top that faded to a few bubbles around the side of the glass and an oily slick on top. The aroma though was rich and bold – an oaty creaminess with lots of chocolate, coffee, and caramel coming though nicely. All the aromas were nicely balanced and thick, with the lingering in the nose way longer than expected. In terms of hops, there was a very faint noble one but it was all about the oats and malts with Devilcraft Black Igneous.
The body wasn’t bitter, but rather roasted. The oats brought a rich creamy flavour to the body, and also making Devilcraft Black Igneous very smooth to drink. Compounded with the chocolate, coffee, and caramel, Devilcraft Black Igneous was a really nice drinking beer – who cares if its hot outside! The lingering malty flavours were dry and were well balanced with only the faintest hint of noble hops in the body.
Devilcraft Black Igneous The Bottom Line
Devilcraft Black Igneous is a really nice oatmeal stout – lets hope they keep bottling it.
