TDM Rye Rye My Darling is a 7.4% Rye IPA from TDM 1874 Brewery, based in Tokaichiba, in Kanagawa, Japan. It’s part of their draft and also canned lineup, though its availability throughout the year is unknown. As the name suggests, TDM Rye Rye My Darling is brewed using rye malt and uses Chinook, Apollo, Amarillo, Nelson Sauvin and Citra hops.

TDM Rye Rye My Darling Aroma and Taste

TDM Rye Rye My Darling poured out a deep copper red colour with a light frothy head on top that clung to the side of the glass during drinking, leaving streaky marks. The aroma though was a peppery spicy one with some hints of citrus and a light dankness to it. The dankness came through a lot more once TDM Rye Rye My Darling had been given the chance to warm up, and brought some cherry aroma through too. An interesting mix of aromas going on to be honest but all well nicely balanced with each other.

The body to TDM Rye Rye My Darling started off dry, and then the peppery crackery malts came along – and boy, does it work. The flavours were rich, but not overpowering; sweet, but not cloying; bitter, but not face turning. An interesting thick resiny flavour was also there after TDM Rye Rye My Darling had warmed up but then a light dusting of cherry also came through too. The dank rye flavours remained on the palate in the aftertaste but didn’t batter the taste buds.
